TERMS and CONDITIONS of Hire

a. Hiring is restricted to Private and Pleasure use only
b. The owner of the Motor home is Motorhomes Direct Ltd hereinafter referred to as “The Company “
c. No one other than the hirers named in the Insurance agreement form may drive the vehicle. (Loss of excess will apply plus uninsured loss in full if proved to the Contrary.)

Driving Licence
All drivers must be aged between 23 and 70 years and must have held a full licence for a minimum of 3 years.
Any driving convictions, accidents, insurance claims (in the past 5 years) disabilities or medical conditions must be declared prior to booking. Drivers who passed there test on or after 1997 may be restricted on the size and weight of vehicle they may drive. Please phone to check suitability. Visitors from abroad are advised to obtain an International valid unendorsed licence besides there domestic one.

Availability
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the vehicle reserved is available, if due to circumstances beyond the Companies control the vehicle is not available the Company Reserves the right to offer a suitable alternative. If this is not available or acceptable the liability of the Company will be limited to the refund of any monies paid by the hirer.

Insurance
The hirer drives on a 1 week hire rate + VAT refundable Insurance excess ( £1500 for all 7 berth Motorhomes, Sports events & Pop Festivals.) The balance is payable 56 days prior to collection. This excess applies to each and every Incident and it includes any loss or damage to equipment, fixtures or damage to third party vehicles or property but does not include Drunk/malicious damage.
The company may pass on to the hirer in full the cost of repairing or replacing such damage. The excess deposit will be forfeited if for any reason the vehicle has not been used in accordance with these “Terms and Conditions”
Insurance for the vehicle is comprehensive and inclusive of passenger liability but exclusive of claims for loss or damage to personal effects. Customers should ensure that they have sufficient insurance cover in place to cover the cost of alternative accommodation in the event of breakdown or accident.
Any country to be visited outside of the E.C. is not covered under normal insurance but may be available in some cases. This should be asked for on booking.
Use for hire or reward is not permitted. Prior permission from the Company must be obtained if the vehicle is to be taken to Festivals or Concerts. An increased Excess will apply

Collection/Delivery
Collection is usually between 1600 hours and 1800 hours with return by 10am... Late returns are charged at £50 per hour or part thereof. Insurance cover is only valid for the stated hire period and you are liable for prosecution under the ROAD TRAFFIC ACT if the vehicle is outside the time. No refund for early returns.

Fuel/Gas/Tyre pressures
The vehicle is supplied with a full tank of Diesel fuel and must be returned with a full tank of Diesel fuel. Fuel, oil windscreen wipers and tyres are the responsibility of the hirer, who is required to check the pressures and levels above. All damage to tyres including punctures will be rectified at cost to the hirer. Gas is supplied with the vehicle, however if the gas runs out during the hire period the hirer must replace it.

Breakdown
Although our vehicles are covered by a full manufacturers warranty, we strongly advise Full European 5 star cover be arranged when travelling abroad. The hirer is fully responsible for the total recovery of the vehicle in the event that the manufacturers warranty does no cover the accident or breakdown. The office must be informed between 9am and 5pm UK time.

Damage
Maximum height of your vehicle is clearly stated (11’ 6” or 3.6 mtrs). Any damage caused to the vehicle from low level objects such as bridges or low branches is the responsibility of the hirer over and above the £1500 or £3000 deposit.  Any Damage caused by wilful neglect or undue care and attention  will result in the full cost of the repairs being passed on to the hirer, plus loss of earnings for the time the vehicle is off the Road. This £1500 or £3000 deposit is requiredwhen the balance of the hire is paid (unless otherwise agreed to) and is then refunded by way of cheque 21 days after the vehicle has been fully inspected and returned in the same condition and required standard it was collected in, the deposit may be retained in the event of any damage sustained during the hire period, until the company has fully rectified the damage.

Without prejudice to the owners claims under this agreement the deposit may be forfeited.
a. If the hire vehicle is not returned by the time stated in the contract.
b. If the vehicle is not returned in a clean and tidy condition inside and out to the required standard. (Dirty toilet £50)
c. If the vehicle is returned in a damaged condition

Animals
The general rule is that all animals other than guide dogs have to be approved by the Company at the time of the booking. If approved all damage however so caused by the animal will be charged to the hirer in full.

Liabilities
The Hirer shall be held responsible for any damage to the vehicle cased by hitting low level objects, such as low bridges and low branches.
The Hirer shall be responsible for damage to windscreen, tyres/punctures and all costs and expenses incurred as a result of offences against the Road Traffic Acts and or regulations there under, and indemnifies the Company from liability.
The Hirer shall ensure that all passengers wear the seat belts provided whilst the vehicle is being driven.
The Hirer shall be responsible for all the Companies uninsured losses, which may arise as a result of the hire.

Beware
The excess deposit will be forfeited if the vehicle is found to have visited an unacceptable site IE: Rock festivals or unauthorised sports events
It is an offence to overload any vehicle and also dangerous. Make sure that anything loaded is evenly balanced.
Hirer may park one vehicle free of charge, and at there own risk on the Companies premises.
Due to a spate of Motorhomes being involved recently with smuggling Customs & Excise may stop and search for contraband.
Balance of payment is due 56 days prior to collection date.

Cancellations or no shows
From confirmation date= loss of deposit
8 to 6 weeks before start=50% of hire
6 weeks or less=loss of hire fee
