Q. How easy is it to drive a motorhome?

A. Motorhomes are very easy to drive. They all have power steering and are very easily manouvered once you've adjusted to their size in relation to a saloon car.

Q. How many people can I take in a motorhome?
A. It's usually a maximum of six people. All manufacturers specify the number of designated passenger seats for travelling? These will all have seat restraints fitted. Where belts are fitted they must be used by law.

Q. Do I need an international permit to drive abroad?

A. Usually holders of the new counterpart license (With photograph) are accepted in most european countries. Older licence holders require a permit obtainable from the AA (08705 500600) or the RAC (08705 828282) It is advisable to all travellers to obtain a permit to avoid problems.

Q. Can a motorhome be driven on an ordinary car license.

A.Motorhomes up to 3.5tonne can legally be driven on an ordinary car license. Anything above and up to 7.5tonne require a pre-1st of January 1997 license or a class 3 LGV license

Q.Where can I get the caravan part of the motorhome checked out and serviced
A. Your motorhome retailer will look after the habitation area and some may be able to look after the mechanics. Most vehicle maintenance should be carried out by the Chassis manufacturers' own LCV service network.

Q. My motorhome needs an MOT. Where should I go?
A. An MOT is required on a motorhome after three years, just like a car. For motorhomes, it is advisable to go to a commercial vehicle testing station as they have the capacity and equipment for larger vehicles.

Q. Can you buy a motorhome to fit into a standard garage?
A. Low line conversions (Campervan type) with an elevating roof usually fit a standard garage.

Q. What are the rules for seating passengers?
A. Passengers should only use designated passenger seats, as specified by the motorhome manufacturer. Seatbelts are not currently required by law in the rear of a motorhome but where fitted, should be worn.

Q. Are motorhomes suitable for disabled people?
A. Many disabled people who normally use a wheelchair and their carers find that motorhome vehicles can be easily adapted for their needs. Ramps and lifts can be fitted and some other internal modifications can be carried out to adapt the vehicle, which, subject to an individuals eligibility, can be supplied without VAT.

Q. Is there any way we can try a motorhome out before we buy?
A. Motorhomes are widely available on hire. Our dealer and hire centre lists will help you locate one. Some dealers operate a 'Try before you buy' scheme, where you can try the motorhome at little or no charge if you buy, or at an agreed time rate if you don't.

Q. Do we need to connect up to an electricity supply for power?
A. Most motorhomes have leisure batteries which can service most needs overnight and recharge on the move. Most sites now allow main connectors, for which your motorhome will be equipped.

Q. Are motorhomes equipped to deal with cold weather?
A. Most manufacturers now "winterise" motorhomes build to European Standards, making them suitable for year round use in the country of origin.

Q. Are motorhomes expensive to run?
A. Motorhomes offer excellent performance for their size and weight with diesel power for the majority of vehicles today, offering excellent fuel efficiency.

Q. How is effluent disposed of when not on site in UK?
A. Most service areas have a facility for the disposal of all waste

Q. Where can water be obtained to top up on board fresh water tank when not on site in UK?
A. All service areas offer this facility and many friendly filling stations

Q. Do you have a motorhome that will sleep 10/12 people?

A. To our knowledge to date, there is no motorhome that has more than 7 berths

Q. Do you provide drivers for hire to drive the motorhomes if required

A. Yes! Drivers can be provided.

Q. Could I hire for 2 days

A. We do hire for single days out of season, but not in the main season April to October
