Alpe d’Huez by Motorhome

Alpe d'Huez by MotorhomeLast night we went to see some friends of mine who run the Le Chamois Hotel in Alpe d’Huez. Alpe d’Huez is set up really well for campervans and motorhomes.  If you are not looking  for  dedicated site and just want easy access to the ski lifts you can use the ‘Parking des Brandes’ at Les Bergers which is one of France’s excellent Aires de Service. For your information:

“Aires de service are stopping points for motorhomes in France. They can be privately run or more usually run by the town council. They usually provide fresh water, and dumping points for grey and black waste. Aire De Service have a post (borne de services) that will sometimes require Tokens (Jetons) which can be purchased from a local shop or the Mairie itself. Aires are usually always reserved for Camping Cars which is the French term for Motorhome and are not to be used by Caravans.”

When you enter the village of Alpe d’Huez turn right at first roundabout, with multi-storey carpark “Les Bergers” ahead.  Follow signs for the Altiport and Tennis Courts and you will arrive at the Aire. It’s big, with views and a sunny aspect.

Parking des Brandes has water supplies, drainage points and electric terminals. Brandes has 75 spaces for motorhomes.  Payment for motor homes is done automatically on-site. Booking in advance not possible, but bearing in mind we were there in the first week of February there was no problem getting a space.

  • Parking + water supply: € 10 / day (tourist tax € 0,40 / day).
  • Water supply (80 liters of water to take in one catch): € 4 / take.
