For those of you looking to sleep two people in a motorhome we would recommend the Chausson Flash 02 which easily sleeps 2 people with the possibility of a third bed if required. This is the smallest of the 2012 range that Motorhomes Direct have, but there are also smaller campers designed just for two people if that is all you require. We currently have 69 two berth vehicles available for hire, plus 3 two/three berth and 4 two/four berth campervans too. Most of these are best suited to couples or, in the case of the two/three or two/four berth ones, a couple plus a small child or two.
Two berth motorhomes tend to be of a slightly older design having evolved from the old VW vans that have been around since the 60s. Although there are companies around the UK that specialise in VW Campavan hire, Motorhomes Direct do not. The reason for this is simply that there are much better options about today, such as the Chausson Flash 02 which has a fixed double bed and an extra single that can be used for a child or baby.
A modern 3 berth like the Chausson model pictured here is fast, efficient, reliable, comfortable, warm, safe and a joy to drive. This is certainly everything that my old 1971 VW Type 2 was not. I will probably have hundreds of ‘Vee Dub Fans’ disagreeing with me, but I did have one and it was the worst vehicle I have ever had.
If you are going to a festival, having a weekend away or even spending a month touring around Europe, hire something reliable and fun to drive.
