If you have booked a motorhome to hire for next weekend you might be a little bit worried about the weather. I’ve spent a week in Dorset and it has been wet wet wet. There was a slight respite on Tuesday and Thursday and nice days were spent at Lyme Regis and Lulworth Cove respectively. But at the moment it isn’t really looking like it is going to improve that much. April has been a bit of a record breaker here in England with 165% more rain than average, so let’s hope for a drier May. Indeed the first few days of May look like they are going to be much warmer with temperatures more like 17C than the 7C of last week.
So what can you do about this? Well, my advice is to be flexible about where you are going. It’s not peak season yet anywhere, so you don’t really need to book campsites in advance. If I was free to travel where I wanted at the moment I would be heading for Spain’s Costa Blanca as some friends of mine there have been reporting temperatures of 26C. Nice.
Of course you don’t have to plan to go abroad, we all know that when England has beautiful weather, there really is no place on Earth quite like it. So let’s try and wish the rain away and pray for warm, dry May 2012.
