Camping Vinaros

4

We have just got back from 3 great weeks at Camping Vinaros pn the Costa del Azahar in Spain. We actually live in The French Alps near Briancon, just 15 km from the Italian border, so although it doesn’t involve a ferry, it is a 550 mile journey home for us. This, we decided to do in one day, just because my daughter is back at school on monday and the weather had gone a bit wet.

All in all we had a great holiday, Camping Vinaros is near the larger seaside resorts such as Vinaros itself, Benicarlo and Peniscola. Because the Costa del Azahar isn’t particularly near any major airports, it has not become a target for UK package holidays, consequently it still hasa really Spanish feel and there still isn’t much english spoken in the area.  Personally I find this a very attractive feature as I get to try out my very rusty Spanish!

In actually fact, the principal language of this area is Castellano, but there is also Valenciana spoken here too. Also Camping Vinaros is only 2km from the Catalunya border so there is a lot of Catalan spoken too.  Many of the ‘permanent plots’ on the site, belong to people from Tarragona and Barcelona who use them as holiday homes at the weekend.  This was quite handy as every week end we seemed to be able to let our daughter play with other children speaking Castellano or Catalan – which is quite cool as she mainly speaks English and French. I guess at 4 years old most foreign languages sound similar.

Anyway all in all Camping Vinaros is my most favourite campsite in the world. Here are some reasons why I think this:

  1. The facilities are clean (Gracias Delores!),
  2. the restaurant is cheap  (egg and chips 2€)
  3. A pint of San Miguel at the bar is 2€
  4. Camping is 11€/night including a 6A mains hookup
  5. The swimming pool is delightful
  6. The community of permanent residents and ‘long stayers’ is just hilarious
  7. We have some great friends there.

Do yourself and your family a favour and call 0800 612 8719, hire a motorhome and get down to Camping Vinaros for a motorhome holiday. I’m going back there in July and probably again in October. I can’t wait :)

I aree Camping Vinaros is just great. Natalie is fantastic. We are on the Costa Brava making our way down to Vinaros for a six month break. Being OAP we can’t afford trendy expensive France. The downside of all this praise for camping Vinaros is the fact that it will become so popular that you will need to book a few years in advance. Incidentally, we have travelled all over europe in our Hymer campervan. Our favourite site is in the Czech republic.

Camping viaros
I have read the last 2 comments and cannot agree with every thing which is said, Porkys club is for lap dancing ETC ? you are told you have 6amp but you get 4amp.we and a lot of other long stays had to change pitches as the bad manage ment in the office had booked a lot of piches which we were using , the new arrivales would not us the empty pitches. there is a lot of 1 night stays so very little layins, the free internet is not very good ( if you get a signal ) as you can be cut off, if the system is used a lot so your SKYP call can be cut of with no notice, Dont worry the site was only just half full, ( we stayed 120 days ) we tried to move to other sites but found them full so it proved that others were not staying but moveing on. this site is not as good as you make out. PS WE 12 years camp site managment.
